I am delighted with the decision I made 44 years ago which has resulted in all of my fam-ily, including my grandchildren, to be able to enjoy the benefits of the resort. This is a special place and certainly will continue to be so for the next 50 years.”

His son, Ian Griffin, also has very happy memories of Vale do Lobo: “I was five years old when I first visited Vale do Lobo and as I also celebrate my 50 th birthday this year it is perhaps apt that I reflect on why Vale do Lobo has been such a special part of my life and I am sure will continue to be so.

In the very early days I used to be despatched in the morning to go and buy eggs from the caddie master at the Golf Club, I used to then spend significant parts of the holiday with the builders sitting on the diggers and making holes much bigger than anything I could achieve on the beach!

Next came my first golf lesson with Peter McGuinness who I came to know well and cad-died for in the Portuguese Open, this made it particularly special to win the Peter McGuin-ness Memorial Medal recently.

For me Vale do Lobo it is mostly about the community of people, be they regular holi-daymakers, residents or the wonderful staff that make it a home from home. I am never short of a game of golf, a drinking buddy or barbecue invite and that is very special for me and my family.”

Malcolm George has owned a property in Vale do Lobo since 1986 and has never looked back. “We bought our villa never dreaming that it would be the enormous success that it has been for our family and we would not wish to be anywhere else. The excellent facilities cover all ages for our family and are the reason why many other families return on a regular basis.”

Vale do Lobo does not view property owners as being from different coun-tries, instead everyone is seen as part of this incomparable community, a com-munity where nations unite.
